Make this year different … by making it all the same

Here is a video from Ken Wapnick (New Year’s message) that is a timeless reminder that we can see all seemingly different aspects of the dream we’ve projected as the same forgivable illusion. It was just over a year ago that he appeared (in form) to leave us, yet his message lives on, undimmed by the shifting of illusion. Thank you, Ken!

Christmas as the End of Sacrifice – a conversation with Susan Dugan

Susan Dugan and Bruce Rawles converse about “Christmas as the End of Sacrifice” from the last section (11) from Chapter 15 in the text of A Course In Miracles; lots of substantial material in this section for us to ponder and apply, and appropriate any time of year!

Recovering Bliss-ninny calendar – new for 2015

Calling all Recovering Bliss-Ninnys! Here is a new (2015) calendar for students of A Course In Miracles (ACIM) that want reminders of the thought system we’re here to undo, featuring a few of the more challenging quotes from ACIM with recent photographs by Bruce Rawles, editor of ACIMblog.com. Kenneth Wapnick said: “A bliss-ninny doesn’t want to look at guilt or what the world is really like. A person will say, oh, the Course is changing my life, it’s going to change the world without really looking at the guilt the Course is trying to undo. A bliss-ninny does not have a proper understanding or respect for the ego in terms of how ugly it can be and how attracted to it we are. If you don’t look at guilt, everything you do with this Course is going to be guided by that decision and you will totally misunderstand what the Course is saying.” While most students of ACIM probably aren’t in the ‘clinically pathological bliss-ninny’ category (grin) we all have our favorite idols of specialness in the world that we think will make us happy. So, even if you only have a few residual ‘special projects’ to repair this surreal holodeck with the intent of turning the dream into your bliss factory, you might find the quotes on the calendar helpful. If you stand back far enough, you can always just look at the photos when the resistance is high to letting the meaning of the quotes sink in directly, letting them work subliminally. 🙂

All the quotes from the Recovering Bliss-ninny calendar are in the November 2014 ACIMblog bulletin.

FACIM offers streaming classes starting January 2015

The Foundation for A Course In Miracles (FACIM) will begin offering their academy classes via streaming video, starting January! This will greatly expand access who may not find it convenient to attend the sessions in person in Temecula, California. Kudos to FACIM for adding this additional online venue for these superb programs!

Journey Through the Text available now

Hooray! The long-awaited “Journey Through the Text of A Course In Miracles” (JTTT) by Kenneth Wapnick is now available through the FACIM.org website. I’ve been reading excerpts posted on FaceBook by fellow students that already have copies and have just started reading it!

The Altar – An Article by Dave Van Dyke

How willing are we to proceed to “the end of our insistence that reality must be a certain way”? Another helpful article by contributor, Dave Van Dyke.

Susan Dugan workshops

For anyone in the Denver, Colorado or Portland, Oregon areas, ACIM teacher Susan Dugan is giving a workshop in 2015 entitled “The Parent-Child Relationship: Transcending Guilt, Blame, and Need ” on Feb. 21 and March 28, respectively; here are details on her Classes/Events page. She also has an ongoing class on Tuesday evenings at Rocky Mountain Miracle Center (RMMC) in Denver; all highly recommended, as are her blog, and books, Forgiveness Offers Everything I Want, and Extraordinary Ordinary Forgiveness.

Well, isn’t that special! Specialness – 12Radio conversation with CA Brooks

CA Brooks and Bruce Rawles had another conversation on her excellent weekly 12Radio show about ACIM, this one on Specialness. In this conversation, we talk about special love, special hate, and how we make everything special! This ubiquitous ego tactic is designed to keep us mindlessly fixated on specific idols of all kinds. We refer to quotes such as “Complete abstraction is the natural condition of the mind” from Lesson 161 of the ACIM WorkBook, and how specifics … and specialness are intentional diversions from restoring our minds to this peaceful state which is our true nature. Specialness is an important theme in A Course In Miracles; here are numerous articles about it on the Foundation for A Course In Miracles website.

Here is a list of speakers, details about the virtual conference, and a link to register for the event. The theme of this first virtual conference is “Healing the Mind through ACIM.” My presentation was: “Lowering our shields of oblivion: Following our Inner Kindness Teacher beyond the imagined need for defenses back to the Peace of Perfect Oneness we never left.” Here are some quotes from the speakers, in a slide show format. I hope you can join us; the material is always applicable! This was a wonderful opportunity for the global ACIM community to share insights, support and humor. I had the pleasure of watching all the presentations/interviews and listening to all the Q&A sessions, and enjoyed them all; I plan to re-watch and re-listen to them all again soon. 🙂

Holiday Peace Applicable Throughout the year … in film and song

If you haven’t heard it, check out the song Christmas in the Trenches – written and performed by John McCutcheon and a related film, Joyeux Noel, both about declaring a cease fire when we realize that we share the same true interests, as symbolized by this historical lull in world war insanity. Happy holidays and beyond, all!

Inner Peace column edited by ACIMblog contributor Sally McKirgan

Here is the initial article about Inner Peace in 2008 which initiated the Inner Peace column in the Ashland (Oregon) Daily Tidings. This series has enjoyed contributions by numerous ACIM students in the Oregon’s Rogue Valley area and beyond.

If you stand back far enough, you can always just look at the photos when the resistance is high to letting the meaning of the quotes sink in directly, letting them work subliminally. 🙂

Here are the quotes from the Recovering Bliss-ninny calendar:

Cover:

“The world you see is a delusional system of those made mad by guilt. Look carefully at this world, and you will realize that this is so.”
– T-13.in.2:2-3

January

“I am responsible for what I see. I choose the feelings I experience, and I decide upon the goal I would achieve. And everything that seems to happen to me I ask for, and receive as I have asked.” – T-21.II.2:3-5

February

“You are still convinced that your understanding is a powerful contribution to the truth, and makes it what it is.” – T-18.IV.7:5

March

“You will become increasingly aware that a slight twinge of annoyance is nothing but a veil drawn over intense fury.” – W-pI.21.5

April

“Beware of the temptation to perceive yourself unfairly treated. In this view, you seek to find an innocence that is not Theirs but yours alone, and at the cost of someone else’s guilt. Can innocence be purchased by the giving of your guilt to someone else?” – T-26.X.4:1-3

May

“Learn now, without despair, there is no hope of answer in the world. But do not judge the lesson that is but begun with this. Seek not another signpost in the world that seems to point to still another road. No longer look for hope where there is none.” – T-31.IV.4.3

June

“The ego is also in your mind, because you have accepted it there. Its evaluation of you, however, is the exact opposite of the Holy Spirit’s, because the ego does not love you. It is unaware of what you are, and wholly mistrustful of everything it perceives because its perceptions are so shifting. The ego is therefore capable of suspiciousness at best and viciousness at worst.” – T-9.VII.3:4-7

July

“Learn this, and learn it well, for it is here delay of happiness is shortened by a span of time you cannot realize. You never hate your brother for his sins, but only for your own. Whatever form his sins appear to take, it but obscures the fact that you believe them to be yours, and therefore meriting a ‘just’ attack.” – T-31.III.1:4-6

August

“But it is pride that argues you have come into a world quite separate from yourself, impervious to what you think, and quite apart from what you chance to think it is. There is no world! This is the central thought the course attempts to teach.” – W-pI.132.6

September

“What is not love is murder. What is not loving must be an attack. Every illusion is an assault on truth, and every one does violence to the idea of love because it seems to be of equal truth.” – T-23.IV.1:10

October

“If you perceived the special relationship as a triumph over God, would you want it? Let us not think of its fearful nature, nor of the guilt it must entail, nor of the sadness and the loneliness. For these are only attributes of the whole religion of separation, and of the total context in which it is thought to occur.” – T-16.V.10

November

“The sick are merciless to everyone, and in contagion do they seek to kill. Death seems an easy price, if they can say, ‘Behold me, brother, at your hand I die.’ For sickness is the witness to his guilt, and death would prove his errors must be sins.” – T-27.I.4:3-7

December

“If you can be hurt by anything, you see a picture of your secret wishes. Nothing more than this. And in your suffering of any kind you see your own concealed desire to kill.” – T-31.V.15:8-10

Here is an explanation of the annotated references that are noted at the end of each quote.

Video conversations with Susan Dugan: What am I voting for?

Susan Dugan (author of ForaysInForgiveness.com and several books about ACIM) & Bruce Rawles shared a conversation about what we’re voting for with every thought. Hint: there’s always only 2 choices: ego or our Inner Kindness Teacher. Here’s another recent video conversation in our Kenneth Wapnick enthusiasts series: Susan Dugan and Bruce Rawles talk about ego backlash and not taking ourselves too seriously. Synchronistically, I’ve been enjoying the FACIM Q&A series with ‘random’ discoveries over the past few years, but just started going through all 1000+ of them in order, and discovered that Question #35 fits our conversation quite well; helpful when you find that it SEEMS to be getting more difficult to undo the ego, when, in fact, it has been a steady resistance to truth ever since the ‘tiny mad idea’ … never happened! 🙂

Video conversations with Susan Dugan: up next: what am I voting for?

Just before the US mid-term elections, Susan Dugan (author of ForaysInForgiveness.com and several books about ACIM) & Bruce Rawles will be sharing a timely conversation about what we’re voting for. Level Confusion – 12Radio conversation with CA Brooks

CA Brooks and Bruce Rawles had another conversation on her excellent weekly 12Radio show about ACIM, this one on Level Confusion. In this conversation, we refer to this superb LightHouse article on the FACIM.org website by Dr. Kenneth Wapnick on the subject of Level Confusion. In the August 2014 ACIMblog bulletin, I reported on the conversation that CA Brooks and I had about a favorite and helpful ACIM subject, the double shield of oblivion. We’ve also recorded a session about metaphysical movie metaphors, particularly The Wizard of Oz; we plan to do more, since this genre is so loaded with symbolism amenable to listening to Holy Spirit’s version that leads us off the screen and back into the audience… or perhaps the projection booth. 🙂 Upcoming in Nov. 2014: a conversation about special love and special hate relationships… and going beyond specialness.

FACIM - Online Bookstore
One last day! FACIM 50% Off Book Sale Extended through September

I strongly encourage supporting the Foundation for A Course In Miracles (FACIM); they have supported us all in countless ways for many years, directly and indirectly – just think of how many students and teachers of ACIM you know that have been inspired … and continue to be inspired … by Dr. Kenneth Wapnick and his prodigious, seminal and revelatory work – who have inspired you … and others you’ve never ‘met’ – even if you never met Ken ‘in person’ (which I never had the opportunity to do, alas) or even if you’ve never been to the center in Temecula, California (which I finally had the pleasure of doing earlier this year and also recommend highly.) I just started reading (in their entirety) the nearly 1400 brilliant Q&A postings that are part of the Online Learning Aids that FACIM provides everyone for free – yet another example of FACIM’s generous service to the ACIM community world-wide. Buying books by Ken Wapnick directly from FACIM’s website is a win-win way to extend your collection of books by Ken Wapnick and/or give as gifts. FACIM just announced that – by popular demand – they are extending their generous 50% off discount on the print version of Ken’s books through the month of September 2014. Here is a direct link to the FACIM online bookstore. I just stocked up on 6 titles I didn’t have from my favorite author to extend my “Ken” collection. Enjoy!

Doug Sparks workshop in Castle Rock, Colorado – October 4, 2014

Due to a few cancellations, there are a few (4) spaces left for the Doug Sparks workshop here (at our home in Castle Rock, CO) on Saturday, October 4, 2014. His topic will be “Befriending the Unbefriended” and will be similar to the format of his other (superb!) workshops in the Boulder area from 10AM-4PM with a break for lunch, and a cost of $30. For those interested, we’ll have an optional potluck afterwards; let me know if you want to attend either or both. Please contact us ASAP to reserve a place, as this workshop is almost filled up and our living room (unlike our right mind) appears to have limited capacity. 🙂

Meanwhile, here are some prior examples of some of Doug’s superb presentations and workshops, at his home in Boulder, Colorado, at Rocky Mountain Miracle Center (RMMC) in Denver and elsewhere – reflecting his decades of studying ACIM from the early days of Ken Wapnick’s teachings. More are forthcoming after I complete a bit of editing on the audio I’ve recorded.

Please RSVP if you plan to attend (even if it’s a ‘maybe’), and I’ll keep a running list of who has reserved a spot. Also, please send a link to this page to anyone you think might be interested in attending in your ACIM contacts, including those who might know someone in the Denver area, or might be visiting here during early October, particularly those who are fans of Ken Wapnick’s teachings. THANKS!

Doug Sparks was an early student of Ken Wapnick, shortly after Ken began teaching. Doug has been sharing similarly for many years from the Boulder area. When you listen to Doug share his insights about the course, it becomes obvious that the decades of immersion in Ken’s understanding of ACIM have been extended through Doug’s crystal clarity and kind-heartedness. You won’t regret attending… your ego might have some major issues, but that’s the idea … gentle undoing of the resistance to truth! 🙂

More 12Radio conversations with CA Brooks

Last month I reported on the conversation that CA Brooks and I had about a favorite and helpful ACIM subject, the double shield of oblivion. Since then, we recorded another session, this time about metaphysical movie metaphors, particularly The Wizard of Oz; we plan to do more, since this genre is so loaded with symbolism amenable to listening to Holy Spirit’s version that leads us off the screen and back into the audience… or perhaps the projection booth. 🙂 Next Friday, we’ll have another conversation (which I’ll upload to ACIMblog soon) that will touch on another favorite helpful subject: Level Confusion. Here’s an article by Ken Wapnick on the subject of Level Confusion I’m sure to draw inspiration from.

Kindle edition of The Geometry Code turned 2 yesterday

Amazing that it’s already been a couple of years since I released the Kindle edition of the book: The Geometry Code:
Universal Symbolic Mirrors of Natural Laws Within Us; Friendly Reminders of Inclusion to Forgive the Dreamer of Separation … You can read more about this metaphysical romp here, and download the first chapter for free here. The ‘tree-ware’ version has been around even longer for those that enjoy a ‘real book’ to curl up with. 🙂

The Girth of Special Love and Special Hate … with a lisp? 🙂

Mission Impossible tape-self-destruct

Recently, while pondering the myriad ways that special love and special hate attempt to mask the real love that patiently awaits all of us … I realized how we all have indulged in – to our befuddlement – in-fat-uation – which my online dictionary defines as “intense but short-lived passion or admiration for someone or something.” We distort the uniformity and equality of all things of space and time by inflating, exaggerating, and fixating on one illusion over another, desperately attempting to make our cherished illusions real by making a specific (same root as the word special) – to paraphrase George Orwell – “more equal than others.” This, as we’ve all experienced, leads inevitably to the ego’s pendulum swinging the other way through our divided mind’s dreamscape, and we land with a thud and a shudder into the allegedly dreaded mental realm of special hate, where the insane mind now projects a traitorous picture of our cherished (special) specific, beloved-turned-be-hated idol. Ego now adopts a lisp for purposes of further obfuscating the neutral reality of our projected dream characters and instead of in-fat-uation, indulges in in-thin-uation – yet another weapon in ego’s arsenal of blame-throwing, judgment-projecting, guilt-flinging ineffective strategies, or as Ken Wapnick says, it’s maladaptive solution to a non-existent problem. Just notice how often ego blather insinuates that some body or some thing ‘done you wrong’ (with or without the song.)

Our Inner Kindness Teacher reminds us, “Your possible (and, in fact, happily inevitable) mission, should you decide to accept it, is to use the proper use of denial to gently, kindly deny the impossible (including in-fat-uation and in-sin-uation.) As always, should you or any of your treacherous ego thoughts attempt to catch or kill you, Perfect Oneness will disavow any knowledge of your dream hero actions… since nothing happened in Truth. This blog post doesn’t need to self-destruct, since it – and everything else in space-time – never happened, either.” Perhaps we could think of Holy Spirit as an infinitely wise version of Quick Draw McGraw, and nod in joyous agreement when he suggests “I’ll do the thinnin’ around here.” Time to get off the ego express. 🙂

Discouraged? Hang in there, try not to skip steps, and be gentle … and patient with yourself!

The other day – while watching my internal ego babble over recent events not to ‘my’ liking, I was reminded of the importance of my long-term commitment to not taking ego seriously, remembering that my assessment of the dream – let alone reality – is woefully incomplete, forgiving my decision-making mind, and gently … choosing … once … again … to trust Holy Spirit. Here’s a slightly modified response to a FaceBook conversation that would seem to apply to everyone. An (excellent) video is “Kenneth Wapnick talks about why people commit suicide“. … In the video, Ken refers to one of my favorite – and most challenging – passages in the text (Chapter 31, section IV. The Real Alternative), particularly the 3rd paragraph on pages 653-654 where J minces no words and reminds us that we keep trying to repair the dream because we’re all terrified of seeing that there is nothing of value in ego’s projected insanity (a.k.a. the Universe) UNTIL (and this is vitally important) we trust our Inner Kindness Teacher to show us the real alternative of using every moment of ego’s prison thought-system to undo the default, and turn it into a happy dream classroom instead; not by cleverly doing an evasive maneuver and secretly trying to find another special love/hate interest of one form or another (a.k.a. level confusion and/or trying to force light into darkness), but by just looking – with Holy Spirit – at ego’s devastation … and gently forgiving ourselves – sometimes even with a little laugh!  – when we judge ourselves for wanting … once again … to make the dream real by either glorifying our bodies or killing them at whatever pace we elect. I keep finding over and over how important it is to just be gentle, kind and not skip over each step in my custom-tailored curriculum, as Ken reminds. There IS the perfect all-encompassing peace that awaits us, but we’ve so immersed ourselves in our dream-hero roles that it seems hopeless at times. Fortunately, as sentence 6 in the paragraph noted above says, “… yet this was the time they could have learned their greatest lesson.” Let’s all be gentle with ourselves when we hit this wall again and again, since the outcome we all want is assured by what we all really are, even if we still have enormous resistance to going through and beyond the wall.

CA Brooks interview – Double Shield of Oblivion

C. A. Brooks

I’ve found the metaphor of the ‘double shield of oblivion’ quite helpful lately; CA Brooks interviewed Bruce Rawles on her weekly ACIM internet radio program on 12Radio. We talked about how our outer world of space, time and bodies (the outer shield of oblivion) is designed to keep us mindless so that we don’t dare look (with our Inner Kindness Teacher) beyond the inner shield of oblivion (ego’s split-mind mine-field of sin-guilt-fear). Both are equally illusory and forgivable, but we won’t know this until we overcome our resistance by gradually, gently forgiving our decision-making mind – a.k.a. forgetting to judge ourselves – when we mobilize these shields to postpone peace that cannot be shaken. I’m scheduled to do another interview with CA on Sep. 12, when we’ll talk about ACIM and movie metaphors. Hope you can join us, and I’ll post a link if you miss it.

Here is a list of speakers, details about the virtual conference, and a link to register for the event. The theme of this first virtual conference is “Healing the Mind through ACIM.” My presentation will be: “Lowering our shields of oblivion: Following our Inner Kindness Teacher beyond the imagined need for defenses back to the Peace of Perfect Oneness we never left.” … BTW, the cost is currently $49, and prices go up to $59 on September 22, 2014, so register before the 22nd to save $10 if you’re planning to enjoy this very economical way to have a 3-day ACIM workshop immersion from the convenience of your computer.

Doug Sparks workshop in Castle Rock, Colorado – October 4, 2014

Save the date on your calendar for a Doug Sparks workshop here (at our home in Castle Rock, CO) on Saturday, October 4, 2014. We’ll have more details regarding topics, etc. but tentatively, this will likely be similar to the format of his other (superb!) workshops in the Boulder area which typically go from 10AM-4PM with a break for lunch, and a cost of $30. For those interested, we’ll have an optional potluck afterwards. Please contact us ASAP to reserve a place, as this workshop is already filling up and our living room (unlike our right mind) appears to have limited capacity.

Fifty most recent FACIM videos

I recently found a neat plugin (a website add-on) for this website that shows up to 50 thumbnails of videos on a page, so if you’ve been wanting to watch a chronologically sorted collection of Ken Wapnick’s brilliant videos about A Course In Miracles, here’s where you can see them the 50 most recent videos from Foundation for A Course In Miracles on one page. If and when I figure out how to show all of them (since there are over 200 in the playlist as of this bulletin), I’ll update that page to show them all. Enjoy! 🙂

ACIM metaphysics chart - cropped

ACIM Metaphysics Diagrams by Mike Mattheiss

A fellow ACIM student named Mike Mattheiss recently emailed me a link to some diagrams originally based on Ken Wapnick’s teachings, which he has received FACIM approval to distribute). Here’s the link to his “ACIM Materials” site that has the pdf – a cropped portion of which is illustrated above, plus downloads of notes that you might find useful. Thanks, Mike!

Clues to when we’re valuing what is valueless

Here’s a recent video conversation with enthusiasts of the teachings of Kenneth WapnickSusan Dugan and Bruce Rawles talk about A Course In Miracles Workbook lesson 133 “I will not value what is valueless.” and other topics inspired by a recent trip to FACIM in Temecula, Calif. The acronym talked about was GIST: Guilt-Individuality-Space-Time; the first item; Guilt is a key element of the ego’s inner shield of oblivion of mindlessness; the other three – Individuality, Space, and Time are aspects of ego’s outer shield of oblivion of (even more) mindlessness – allowing ego’s agenda of perpetual ‘fire-fighting’ in the world to dominate our thinking … and our identity, rather than gently turning the interpretation over to our Inner Kindness Teacher and remember to laugh at the tiny, mad idea of separation. The G.I.S.T. acronym was inspired by reading Ken Wapnick’s “Journey Through The Workbook” for lesson 133, and relates to paragraphs 11, 8-10, 7 and 6 respectively.

Universe-is-a-hologram

Article: Physicists discover ‘clearest evidence yet’ that the Universe is a hologram

Here’s an interesting article that suggests “the three dimensions we perceive are actually just ‘painted’ onto the cosmological horizon.” … It’s always fun to see physics confirm what the non-dual metaphysics of ACIM – and undoubtedly countless other mystical teachings – have been informing us all along … but we probably needn’t hold our breath waiting for the scientific community to suggest that our universe is just a projection (painted or otherwise) of a silly, unfounded thought of unconscious guilt. 🙂

April 2014 ACIMblog bulletin

ACIMblog bulletin for April 2014:

Jon Mundy - A Tribute to Ken Wapnick (sample image from video)

Jon Mundy’s Tribute to Ken Wapnick

Jon Mundy, who knew Kenneth Wapnick from the early days of ACIM’s history and is a great teacher himself, offers an excellent video tribute to Ken and his profound legacy, with lots of personal anecdotes that attest to Ken’s kindness, wisdom and sense of humor.

The Three R’s of Forgiveness

Review of the 3 Steps of Forgiveness (excerpted from a FaceBook post by Virginia Sandys McDonnell in the Out of the Blue – ACIM virtual study group)

1.) I recognize that the darkness is not in another, but in myself. This does not deny the darkened spots of sin in someone, but only that they are irrelevant to my perception. I understand that the darkness I made real in you by my reaction, originated in me, and thus I recall the projection and remove the wall I had placed between us.

This is a painful step, for in the instant of recognition the pain of my guilt returns to awareness. I realize (from Lesson 190) the gun pointed at me is not held by your hand, but my own. In other words, the guilt is not in you. I am the secret murderer.

2.) I now understand, with Jesus’ love beside me, that not only is it an illusion that you were the killer, the fact that I am a killer is an illusion, too. I made up the guilt in you because I made it up in me. Heaven’s Love was only believed to be destroyed. It truth, not one note in its joyous song of oneness was lost (T-26.V.5:4). Recognizing this happy fact completes my part in the Atonement, and the wall between my self and Self dissolves into nothingness.

3.) We are taught this step is not our responsibility. Once I look at the guilt I put in you and recall it, realizing it was only my dark fantasy, I have fulfilled my part. I looked at guilt without judgment, and remembered to laugh at the tiny, mad idea of separation, which allowed it to dissolve into the Holy Spirit’s gentle laughter (T-27.VIII.6:2;9:1).

If I become afraid of love again, I need but let the tender hand of Jesus touch another’s pain, and immediately his light of truth abolishes the darkness of illusion, as we together return to the place of truth we believed we had abandoned for the ego’s home of separation and guilt.

The secret walls of defense are no longer needed, and so have disappeared. In their place is the light of forgiveness, which shines the way to the home we never left. And thus it is no secret we are healed (T-27.VIII.13:9).

~Ken Wapnick, Ending Our Resistance to Love: From Dissociation to Acceptance of A Course in Miracles, p 137-138

… I added this commentary:

I’ve been adopting a “3 R’s” short-hand mnemonic lately for the 3 steps of forgiveness: 1) Reveal 2) Release and 3) Replace: Step 1 involves taking responsibility for my projections as I REVEAL, realize, and recognize that there’s no “other” responsible for my mind and its projected dream experiences. Step 2 requires me to RELEASE my judgments (and the associated guilt baggage that burdens my identity with fraudulent imagery and beliefs. Step 3 is done automatically by our Inner Kindness Teacher as we’ve removed the barriers to the awareness of Love’s presence; if I try to interfere here, I’ll just limit the scope of what forgiveness can do.

The importance of vigilance

In this video, Susan Dugan shares her appreciation of the current staff at FACIM, and a few of the insights they shared in Temecula at the most recent academy class there. Susan and Bruce Rawles talk about the importance of (gentle) vigilance in watching our mind for ego incursions and why this is crucial to replacing our maladaptive thought system with one that will truly work for us. (Please excuse the reference to technical audio difficulties that turned out to be experienced only on our end.)

March 2014 ACIMblog bulletin

ACIMblog bulletin for March 2014:

Ken Wapnick (left) and Tennanah Lake Trio

Kenneth Wapnick Memorial Tributes

This month’s bulletin will be short, but sweet. Here are numerous heartfelt tributes to our beloved Kenneth Wapnick, sent to the Foundation for A Course In Miracles. This collection of tributes also forms the basis of the quarterly Lighthouse Newsletter for March 2014 as well. I took a few days on my commute train this past week – well worth it! – to read and savor them all; thanks to all the authors who sent them in; I could relate fully to each and every one. Like the melos between the notes, the spirit between the lines of our favorite blue book, and many other wonderful metaphors that Ken shares, the feeling of the appropriate and profound appreciation for our quintessential teacher of ‘the Course’ comes through clearly and eloquently in this worthy outpouring of gratitude. Numerous letters in this collection used the word “demonstrate” to indicate that Ken went way beyond mere intellectual mastery, and truly lived the example of kindness; it was obvious even to those of us who didn’t have the privilege of meeting him ‘in person’ – this quote fits nicely about Ken’s life:

“Teach not that I died in vain. Teach rather that I did not die by demonstrating that I live in you.”

… Tissue alert: I found myself – on more than one occasion – getting a bit ‘misty-eyed’ reading these tributes … but in the best possible way.
