Happy Dreamers: Choosing against nightmarish hologram interpretations

Lyn Johnson

Lyn Johnson, who moderates and contributes generously to the ACIM Gather online forum, and Bruce Rawles had a lively conversation (as usual) about ACIM. In this talk, we read from part IX of an essay entitled “The Happy Dream” -“The Dreamer of the Dream” (cont.) by Kenneth Wapnick, Ph.D. on the FACIM (Foundation for A Course In Miracles) website in this audio recording. We actually only made it through about 4 paragraphs of this excellent article, so reading the remainder of Ken’s writing is encouraged, as is true with all the outstanding content available from the FACIM website.

Workbook Lesson 128: The world I see holds nothing that I want.

Monty Python - Life of Brian
Lyn Johnson
and Bruce Rawles talk about ACIM Workbook Lesson 128: “The world I see holds nothing that I want” in this audio recording. We talked how to avoid ego’s abusive trap of nihilism as well as a bit of humor about how our seemingly separate selves make a big deal about trivial differences, such as the “People’s Front of Judea” instead of the “Judean People’s Front” that Monty Python’s Life of Brian movie did a great job of lampooning how we all tend to get upset over inconsequential (in truth) differences, one aspect of making big deals about ego’s world, which plays into the insane strategy of anchoring our identity in dream figures that do not serve to lead us back to peace.

Three R’s of Forgiveness revisited: Workbook Lesson 23

The 3 R's of Forgiveness: Reveal, Release, Replace

This audio recording is part two of a three-part mini-series on Awakening-Together. This talk is entitled: “The 3 R’s of Forgiveness: Reveal, Release and Replace” and was aired live on ACIM Gather on April 24, 2016. The reading that was elaborated on was from this article by Kenneth Wapnick, from his book, Forgiveness and Jesus. Here’s a related article on the FACIM website … and a related link on the Awakening-Together website. Thanks to Lyn Johnson for making the arrangements for this series, making the recording and contributing to the conversation as well.

Here is a related conversation on the same subject from a few weeks ago, also with Lyn Johnson

Ken Bok conversation: ACIM, non-duality and Kenneth Wapnick

Bruce Rawles andKenneth Bok - video conversastionKenneth Bok and I had a fascinating conversation a couple of weeks ago while hiking in Muir Woods; this video is somewhat of an abridged version of that more extended conversation about how we can use our classroom of specialness, exclusion and idolatry to look at our stories and ultimately see that what we all are–our real identity that transcends duality–is the ‘content’ (to use ACIM’s language of Spirit) and independent of ‘form’, yet–in the condition in which we believe we’re in–ironically requires the specificity of form to enable us to transcend it. If we didn’t have the depth and breadth of our multitude of teachers (particularly helpful when we notice the resistance of wanting to exclude anyone or anything from our lovingkindness in the mind) we wouldn’t have any way of accessing the unconscious guilt in our minds … in order to see that that our fantasy fugitive terror is completely unfounded. Hooray for celebrating ALL our seemingly diverse paths back to the Oneness we never left, and thanks to Ken Bok for reminding us that we can mindfully embrace … and celebrate … the complete and inclusive classroom in our mind, with both Eastern and Western paradigms leading beyond them all… by means of them all. 🙂 Thanks also to Ken Bok for providing us with an abundance of great video interviews of ACIM-related conversations as well as those that provide other avenues for returning to the home we never left.

Addendum 22Apr2016: While the form (question topic and answer) of this FACIM FAQ #1115 differs from the specifics of the conversation above, it seems that the content addressed is the same: the ultimate patience, dedication and mindfulness required (which we all have, regardless of our belief) to outlive the phantom doubts of a fabricated separate self which consistently questions–while limiting the range of answers to what will not work, distracts, worries and tries to make our happiness contingent on specifics carefully crafted to keep us mindlessly pursuing peace within a dualistic, dueling thought system. 🙂

Here is a prior conversation Ken & I had a couple of years ago:

ACIM and Sacred Geometry? - Kenneth Bok interview

Not No: A Workbook Lesson 44 Conversation with Lyn Johnson

Not No! :-)

Lyn Johnson and Bruce Rawles talk about ACIM’s Workbook Lesson 44: God is the light in which I see  in this audio recording. We also tie into the core idea that ACIM isn’t about affirming what we really are, since Truth needs no reinforcement, but it IS about saying no to ego’s negation of truth; so it’s really – as Kenneth Wapnick says – a Course in “Not No.”

Here’s the quote I was looking for during the conversation from the section entitled: “Summary: How ego abuses Polarity” from the chapter “Polarity: 4th of the 7 Hermetic Laws” from the book “The Geometry Code: Universal Symbolic Mirrors of Natural Laws Within Us; Friendly Reminders of Inclusion to Forgive the Dreamer of Separation“:

” … a black hole is also a singularity … and the ego of someone who lives forever is so great it collapses on itself.”
– Stephen Colbert, “The Colbert Report”

FACIM FAQ 1001 and Handling Holiday Heroics

star trooper Truman show atop staircase with light sabreThis audio recording is another in the weekly series of conversations about A Course In Miracles with Lyn Johnson and Bruce Rawles. This week we covered a lot of ground, including the metaphysical metaphors in movies like The Truman Show, the Matrix and Star Wars series, and more. We ended up reading the first part of FACIM Outreach FAQ #1001 which seemed quite timely, given all the seasonal insanity and attempted heroic thinking that sometimes seems more evident during the holidays. We also touched on another favorite ACIM workbook lesson, #95, which also reminds us that the heart of forgiveness is letting ourselves (and everyone else) ‘off the hook’ when we notice our resistance and lapses in diligence. Not condemning ourselves – forgiving ourselves for NOT wanting to be peaceful, knowing that our Inner Kindness Teacher’s curriculum WILL lead us to that state – is the whole point of these lessons, as Ken Wapnick reminds us in several of his lectures. We’re all in the same boat! … We can undo ego’s forceful blundering when we awaken to our Inner Kindness Teacher’s gentle curriculum… and leave (by removing our identity, not necessarily changing anything in the dream) the ego’s colossal special effects stage. 🙂

A Conversation with CA Brooks about non-dual gratitude

Here is an audio program with CA Brooks and Bruce Rawles conversing – on another segment of her weekly ACIM internet radio program on 12Radio – about gratitude beyond comparison (giving thanks without needing a specific reason), and related workbook lesson 195: Love is the way I walk in gratitude as well as a favorite section: “The Real Alternative” from Chapter 31 of ACIM’s text, and Kenneth Wapnick‘s brilliant audio program and book “From Futility to Happiness: Sisyphus as Every Man.”

A Transition in Perspective – A Conversation with CA Brooks

Transition from ego to Inner Kindness TeacherIn this audio programCA Brooks and Bruce Rawles talk on another segment of CA’s weekly ACIM internet radio program on 12Radio, about a few of the ideas in yet another brilliant work from Kenneth Wapnick and the Foundation for A Course In Miracles (FACIM) entitled, “A Transition in Perspective.” One of the ideas we talked about is the metaphor of ego’s dark thread that divides (reinforcing an imaginary split in the mind) and leads further into the dark cavernous abyss of the belief in separation, whereas our Inner Kindness Teacher uses the exact same thread (which now becomes a golden, gently luminous path) but in the opposite direction using shared interests, kindness and – of course, forgiveness – to reveal the blocks to love’s awareness, release them, and replace our insane ideas of isolation with the comforting reminder that our true, eternal heritage is complete innocence, inclusion and a peaceful identity.

ACIM Virtual Conference #2: Oct 16-18, 2015

MiracleShare.org 2015 ACIM Virtual ConferenceThe second annual ACIM Virtual Conference hosted by MiracleShare.org is happening October 16 through 18 and you can register now for this 3-day interactive ACIM event here if you haven’t already. I’ll be sharing about Workbook Lesson 243 “Today I will judge nothing that occurs” in a conversation with Danielle Scruton, one of the organizers of this wonderful event. There will be about two dozen other outstanding ACIM presenters/teachers (such as Gary Renard, Susan Dugan, Myron Jones, Jon Mundy, Dov Fishman and Carrie Triffet, to name just a few) who will also have a pre-recorded 30-minute video (either a monologue – like I did last year about the Double Shield of Oblivion – or a conversation) followed by a half-hour live phone-in Q&A session, along with a chat window where we can further extend the conversation and communion in text form; all great fun! I hope you can join us! If you haven’t already (virtually) attended last years, you can still register, watch and listen to the full conference from last year here until October 2015! No airline flights, rental cars, hotel reservations, etc. needed, either! 🙂

Streaming Academy Classes from FACIM

FACIM Academy Class

I recently ‘virtually’ attended (via streaming video) the most recent Academy Class from Foundation for A Course In Miracles (FACIM) from Temecula, CaliforniaI’m re-watching (my 2nd re-play viewing after also watching the class live) the 2-day video of the “Finding Joy in a Joyless Place” class which had some wonderful insights from Dr. Rosemarie LoSasso and Dr. Jeffrey Seibert. They team-taught this most recent class and are doing a superb job of carrying on where Ken Wapnick left off in sharing the oh-so-gentle but uncompromising non-dual metaphysics of ACIM. I plan to attend many more, including other workshops and classes in addition to the academy classes.

Earlier this year, incidentally, FACIM was using a different (problematic) video streaming provider, so the prior video streaming experience was technically challenged, but not anymore! This 2-day class video streaming experience worked flawlessly for me. The high resolution and excellent bandwidth audio and video make it almost like being there in the classroom. So now, both the content (which was always great) AND the form are outstanding! All highly recommended! Here’s the FACIM schedule of classes and events – ALL HIGHLY RECOMMENDED – many of which you can attend now via streaming video in addition to in person, if you happen to be in Temecula.

“The Little Willingness” – An Audio Conversation with Susan Dugan

Susan Dugan and Bruce Rawles - video: Workbook Lesson 134 Let Me Perceive Forgiveness As It Is - And What Is Forgiveness

Susan Dugan and Bruce Rawles comment in this video on “The Little Willingness” from text of A Course in Miracles (T-18:IV). More at Susan’s blog, ForaysInForgiveness.com. We talked about the importance of trusting our Inner Kindness Teacher (a.k.a. Holy Spirit, or the Jesus of ACIM) to provide the needed correction to our limited and distorted perception and being willing to release our attachment to thoughts that result in anything but peace. We need to humbly look at our misery with this guidance in order to release our addiction to misery. Our part is very tiny, but crucial in undoing our buying into ego’s misinterpretations.

Dreamer of the Dream: Interview with Gary Renard

Gary Renard and Bruce Rawles had fun talking for an hour about the “Dreamer of the Dream” in the text of A Course In Miracles (T-27.VII). Gary – as always – clearly delivers the ‘straight scoop’ without distortion or dilution of ACIM’s pure-non-dual thought system. I always find listening to Gary’s insights helpful and re-calibrating. Read more about Gary Renard’s appearances and work at GaryRenard.com. Gary also referenced Workbook lesson 169; here’s the section from the ACIM text “Dreamer of the Dream” that was the focus of the conversation. Here’s a related video by Kenneth Wapnick on the Dreamer of the Dream. If you’re interested in participating in future conversations with Gary (and/or other ACIM folk), please let me know and I’ll add you to the roster for future conversations; here’s some google+ hangouts tips to optimize the technical side of things.

New Book: The Universe Is Virtual by Alexander Marchand

The Universe Is Virtual by Alexander Marchand - book cover

Alexander Marchand, author of the brilliant, lavishly illustrated (comic book style) and thoroughly enjoyable book, The Universe is a Dream, has a new ACIM/physics book: The Universe is Virtual. I’ve only read the first few pages in an email that Alex sent a day or so ago, and already it’s a favorite! Having grown up in a physics-oriented community (Livermore, California where my Dad ran ‘atom-smashers’), I savor insightful connections about physics that apply ACIM’s pure non-dual metaphysics. I’m quite eager to read the entire book, and will review it in a future ACIMblog bulletin when I do!

ACIM Gold Mine? FAQ from FACIM has superb insights to complement ACIM

Recently I’ve been reading – in consecutive order, after lightly skimming randomly for years – the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) from the Foundation for A Course In Miracles (FACIM); I’ve also been reading and commenting on these FAQs on my Saturday morning program on Awakening Together’s streaming audio from 7:30-8AM Mountain Time. FACIM also provides a myriad of outstanding resources for students of ACIM, including a prolific collection of the work of Dr. Kenneth Wapnick, including items from their bookstore such as books, Kindle titles, audios in both CD and mp3 formats, plus many years of online learning aids such as the quarterly Lighthouse bulletins and numerous other resources. The staff at FACIM continues to provide ongoing seminars, academy classes (both in-person and streaming video) and materials.

Academy Award Winning Performances … By Everyone!

We’re all worthy of Academy Awards for acting! David Cohen and Bruce Rawles talked about luminary theatrics; Dave (a.k.a. Davie Crockett) and I shared a conversation on 22 February 2015, on his LA Talk Radio show. Our conversation theme coincided with the annual Academy Awards that evening, so we had fun examining the theater dream metaphors we’re all living and how – as Shakespeare said – all the world’s a stage. CA Brooks and I also had a recent conversation on her 12Radio program with a similar topic; I’ll provide a link to that audio when I have it next month.
