Let your mind be the hero of your day’s dream.
Dedicate each day to the Holy Spirit to serve the Mind, not the body’s needs: pain-relief/pleasure, etc.

Relationships must be healed at the level of the mind. There’s no real need to ‘talk things out,’ where you are working on a special relationship between two separate bodies, as in couples therapy. Work it out instead with thee Holy Spirit. Then it permeates down to the level of the physical relationship.

The ego owes its entire existence, and its continued power, in persuading the decision-maker to believe in it. Our power of choice is its real threat, not God or the Holy Spirit. So the ego’s job is to keep the decision-making mind off of the awareness of choice, by using our guilt of punishment for the separation of God to keep us in fear and unaware of our power to choose. But every thought the ego uses to defend the choice to be a body in the world has a corresponding thought that Holy Spirit offers our decision-maker instead so that we may choose the Mind.

The ego uses differences to separate. The Holy Spirit uses our oneness to unite. We relive the original moment of separation each time we focus on differences, or get angry, or judgmental.

When you attack someone else, you know on some level you are doing it unfairly, because you have a sense that they are not the reason you are upset. So you inherently believe you deserve punishment for attacking them, and expect to be attacked back. Even if they don’t react, you will make up their attack in your mind. But when you listen to reason and forgive from your right mind, you hear any attack as a call for love.
(note: When the Course uses the term ‘reason’, it is referring to right-minded thinking.)

Look honestly at your judgments with Jesus. Someone said to Ken that they don’t have to do anything, but just be. When Ken questioned him what he meant, the man said he just responds like Jesus would. Ken said that sounds like the same thing he was saying by looking at your judgments with Jesus, just inviting him in. (Jonathan’s note: The ‘I need do nothing’ statement taken out of context?)

Differences include denigrating your supposed enemy, saying they look different, speak differently, believe differently; so now you can ‘kill’ them without feeling immediate guilt. But any judgmental thought that is not love, is really murder. At the core of every perception of difference is the ego saying, “that other person is sinful, and I am guiltless.” And so the ego triumphs over God to get its needs met, which is to triumph over the mind.

The world makes no sense because it is an inadequate solution to our problem. It was made from the premise of insanity as a thought of separation, and so can never be the solution. There really is no problem to solve, except the belief in the ego itself.

I need do nothing was originally just a message to Helen during an elevator strike at her apartment that actually never happened, but she moved out for fear that it would cause her inconvenience! In truth there is no problem, so you need do nothing to solve it.

ACIM Gather program continues on Tuesday evenings

Having completed a first pass reading of Kenneth Wapnick’s brilliant Journey Through The Workbook of ACIM some months ago, I recently started reading his similarly outstanding Journey Through The Manual (JTTM) of ACIM. I have also recently started sharing some brief quotes (mostly from my daily reading of this book) on my link to frequent FaceBook status updates and recent tweets on Twitter. You can see a few of the most recent tweets in the right-hand sidebar on each page of this site. I’ve shared online on ACIM Gather for several weeks now (with super support from Dov Fishman)… JTTM is just too good not to share! On Tuesday, March 20, 2012, I started a 1-hour show on ACIM Gather (via PalTalk Express) where I alternate between reading from JTTM (usually just getting through a few paragraphs) and musing about the readings. Gary Renard, the best-selling author of the Disappearance of the Universe and Your Immortal Reality, was a successful professional guitar player. During the Harmonic Convergence of 1987, he heard a calling and began to take his life in a different direction. Combining a disarming sense of humor with radical cutting edge metaphysical information based on A Course in Miracles, he has been described as one of the most interesting and courageous spiritual speakers in the world. Over the past eight years, he has spoken in 43 states, 23 countries, and was the keynote speaker at several International A Course in Miracles Conferences. Gary is also a recipient of the Infinity Foundation Spirit Award. The award is given to a person who has made a meaningful contribution to personal and spiritual growth. The topic of sex is extremely taboo in the world and even with a course in miracles students… At course groups topics like guilt and fear, peace and love and miracles are discussed but not very often is sex brought up. There’s so much shame and guilt covering sex that people don’t want to look at it. I’ve been uncovering this sex-drive for a while now and it’s been quite liberating to get to core of it… If anyone would like to comment or ask questions about it I would be happy to respond.

Thanks, Seth, this post is perfectly juxtaposed with the wonderful YouTube interview with Kenneth Bok and Nouk Sanchez where more ‘sacred-to-the-ego cows’ are revealed. How appropriate in this dream season of death, taxes and rebirth-into-form that we examine what the fragmented self hates to look at… I’m reminded of Ken Wapnick’s superb audio, “Form vs. Content: Sex and Money” where he points out that these taboo subjects are just poster children of the tantrum yoga that the teacher of fear promotes and glamorizes, wanting to make some subjects special and particularly off-limits to pulling back Oz’s curtain. And Gary Renard’s teachers are equally non-word-mincing on the subject, reminding us that sex, in particular, has just enough ‘payoff’ to maintain the mindless addiction to avoiding looking at the underlying authority problem where we seem to be able – for a few moments – find a substitute for an all-encompassing love that we know would bring us home in a nanosecond if we really looked at it wholly with the Spirit we all are. These ‘special’ topics where the world seems ‘more equal than others’ as Orwell might say, often can be particularly helpful when given to the Teacher of Kindness for reinterpretation so that we don’t make ‘big deals’ out of any particulars.

Oh yeah, and just looking (with Holy Spirit) does not necessarily imply that we change anything on the level of form, which is so often the knee (or other anatomical region) jerk reaction to being upset with our own projections that just need our forgiveness; and seeing the humor in our own folly around these sacred herds can be so entertaining!

Newly Updated Website!

The January – for another couple of hours here at least – bulletin will be short and sweet this month. The main reason for that is because … cue the virtual trumpets and timpani … the new ACIMblog website is finally in place! Hooray! I hope you find the new format easy to get around and truly helpful. Please let me know what YOU would like to see here, any suggestions for improvements, etc. If you have anything ACIM-related that you’d like to share, please send (or send a link) for consideration. As stated in the byline, the intent of this site (among other things) is a venue for conversations, so I eagerly encourage and await more contributions from kindred students.

I’ve completely overhauled the site, and will now resume the primary emphasis of adding new and useful content – much more fun than messing with form -  as well as finishing the uploading of the 3 volumes so that they can all be searched from within the site. Much more fun will follow. Please forgive – I know that is your favorite spiritual practice otherwise you wouldn’t be here! – the extensive construction/dormancy period and now we can resume sharing our common interest in waking from the pervasive and oh-so-silly hologram.

Check out the expanded and re-organized Resources page. I’ve added some great resources from FACIM, as well as other useful sites. There are lots of other new (and soon-to-be new) additions and enhancements, like a language translator for international access, a link to frequent FaceBook posts, and recent Tweets. It’s fun to see how the communities of fellow ACIM students are sharing and re-connecting, symbolic of the connection we only imagine we left as fantasized prodigals. Also, starting with this edition of the monthly bulletin, the bulletins will be better integrated with the rest of the site.
